EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

MINUTES OF February 9, 2004

 

Board Members Present: Chris Hoffman, Gill James, Jan Woldseth, Craig Olson, Bob Dowding, Kurt Criscione, Brent Kawaguchi, Dan Jurdy, Sam Perlin for John Wiley, Jana Kohler, Javier Krumm, Tom & Marilyn Doyle – Secretary

 

Board Members Absent:  Mike Scott Bob Beeman, Jack Reynolds, Bruce Dubois

 

1.      Introduction of Guests:

2.      January 12, 2004 Executive Board Minutes. Minutes were approved as written.

3.      Financial Report:           Checking:    $   6,448.99

Savings:            $ 35,006.96

 

4.      Approval of Vouchers: Vouchers #12207 through # 12217 for a total of $ 4,187.30

 

5.      WIAA Executive Board Report: Craig Olson.    Craig reported on the following:
- Emergency Board Meeting on Thursday to hear an appeal from District 4 CenPac League.  The board gave District 4 two weeks to work out the B football situation and report back to the WIAA board.
- Volleyball season has been shortened one week for 3A and 4A because of the contractual agreements with the Everett arena.  Leagues and districts will need to shorten their seasons to accommodate that.
- The District 2 Board moved into a discussion about the 3A allocations in football, soccer, baseball.  The board asked Metro and Kingco 3A to go back and discuss possible allocations options based on 4 entries to the state bracket, with a 3-1, 2-2 breakdown in yr. 1 and yr. 2.
-3A Baseball brackets have been revised and updated on the WIAA site.

6.      Sea-King District 2 Executive Board President Report:  Bob Dowding

  1. Violations. 
  2. WSSAAA Report – Tom asked schools to forward pictures, articles.  Reminded them to request that schools nominate people for the WSSAAA awards given out at the conference.  Last call for letters for George Vanni so that we can properly honor him as our AD of the Year. 
  3. Request from Bellevue Christian to change to District 2.  M/S/P to approve.
  4. Spring District Tournaments Dates, Sites & Managers
  5. Winter District Tournament Status
  6. The Bear Creek School - Classification Status.  Bear Creek School has asked to move from the 1A classification to B and to move from Emerald City to Sea-Tac.  They made the decision late and requested permission from the WIAA to be released from their “opt up” letter sent in earlier in the year.  Sea-Tac meets a week from Wednesday to decide on their status.
  7. January “Current Issues” Report.  Leagues are asked to review the amendments and report league positions to the District Board at the April 5 Board meeting.
  8. Review Proposed Amendments to Spring Rep. Assembly.  The board reviewed each of the amendments so that members can review with their league and bring back recommendations to the April board meeting.
